APEF

Anti-Pirate Electric Fence

This is the worlds first hidden / pop-up or drop down, electric fence suitable for Megayachts, Superyachts or almost any other vessel including oil tankers, wind turbine service vessels, fishing vessels or even oil rigs. Not only is this system a deterrent, but whilst in port and possibly un-crewed, it is the first system that can truly lockdown your superyacht.

Our integrated hidden fence systems comprise of two basic options:

  1. Drop down systems

  2. Pop-Up systems

These systems require a very early design engagement with our team, to custom make the fence system to suit , wherever possible, the shape of the vessel and to ensure that structural space is allowed for the systems cassettes, be it in the deck, in bulwarks or in bulkheads or ceilings.

WHEN YOU WANT YOUR VESSEL TO LOOK LIKE THIS     -          BUT ON DEMAND, BEHAVE LIKE THIS

SPACE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TWO INTEGRATED SYSTEMS

  1. Space  : 275mm wide * X 275mm deep X length of APEF sub-deck/bulwark system install. [ * for radiuses requirements, some increased space may be required. ]

  • Power :  A power  feed along the length of the system

  • If the system is sub-deck mounted, drainage will need to factored in for the cassette 'cavity'

  2. Space : 275mm X 300mm X length of APEF bulkhead dropdown system

  • Power :  A power  feed along the length of the system

BENEFITS

  • The only physical anti-pirate system that can be discretely incorporated into a high-end vessel

  •  The system can be adjusted from a 'Deter' setting, to a 'Lethal' setting by the authorized key holder. This would be based on a life threatening risk assessment.

  • The system is easily tested and reloaded by the crew during standard drills or maintenance regimes.

  • The retro-fit 'bolt-on' cassettes, can be assembled fixed and tested whilst at sea, therefore no lost time in port to install these systems.*

  • The APEV bolt-on system can be removed from one vessel and fitted to another in days, with little or no customization, dependent on the structures of the bulwarks, access etc.

  • Requires only a power source, but does have it's own power back up UPS, otherwise is totally self-contained and maintenance free.

  • The APEV system not only acts as an at-sea pirate deterrent but whilst in port, can physically lock down the entire vessel.

BOLT ON OPTIONS

Our more commercial and retrofit options comprise of a 'Bolt-On' / Pop-Up' system suitable for almost any commercial vessel including cruise liners of any size.

WE WILL WORK WITH YOUR DESIGN TEAM TO PROVDE AN ACCPETABLE CUSTOMIZED AESTHETIC SOLUTION FOR YOUR BOLT ON SOLUTION.

Commercial vessels are far more susceptible to pirate attack given their low speeds and ample attach points for pirates to utilise.

We have a ’clip-on’ APEF cassette for commercial vessels or for any other vessel where aesthetics are of less importance.

These installations can be completed whilst at sea, assuming that the vessel is large enough to receive the equipment in a standard shipping container on it's deck. The vessel therefore need not lose any ‘downtime’ to install these systems. *

This requires careful planning with our engineers and technicians and obviously the vessel must have the space onboard to land a number of shipping containers with the APEF systems in them, to use during the install process, plus accommodation for the install team of approx. 6.

ANALYSIS

Our systems carry significant advantages over many current anti-pirate systems, but as always, they are not a 'silver bullet' and need to be considered in relation to the risk and the requirement.

  • Is my vessel vulnerable?

  • Will I be sailing in areas of risk, ever?

  • Will I be hosting guests and be responsible for their safety?

  • Will the pure speed of my vessel be a deterrent?

  • Will I have other observation and early warning systems in place to allow me time to activate these APEV fences?

  • Will I lose time fitting other systems in port whilst the APEV system can be fitted at sea?

  • How effective are cheaper systems and are they really a deterrent?
